Was very happy with this little radio. It's small. Although it looks like a boombox in the picture. It's about the size of a conventional transistor and easily fits in a backpack. I marked that because the batteries fit. The small piece covering them didn't fit properly so I'm deducting a star. BUT HOLD YOU. Here was a surprise. When I first opened the box and took it out, I saw the handle. I gave it two spins and then moved on. So when I got the batteries, I put them in, took them out and fiddled with the little on/off buttons, and then voila. The music and the weather news started playing. It doesn't need batteries if it can be powered. Nice. I just bought a second one to keep in my cabin and if my daughter who lives alone wants one I can buy one for her. We live in California where there can be earthquakes, floods and most recently fires. and all our phones can die if there is no electricity. I think this is a very good information backup tool.
