After weeks of searching for a starting problem, I finally found that the problem was with My 7.3 IDI. The first thing I changed was the glow plug set. For those planning to use them on a solenoid based glow plug controller it will not work. All 8 measure 0.5 ohms, causing your controller to keep clicking and not starting a heating cycle due to the low resistance. I changed the controller and rewired the Glow twice before speaking to an engineer from the company that makes all Ford IDI controllers and he advised me that no Wellman controller would work below 0.8ohm. I hope this saves someone else from spending a few hundred bucks looking for other problems that don't exist. Diesel RX spark plugs (Wellman) solved my problem immediately! Second star because they were cheap. If you use the push button to heat your spark plugs then these are for you.
