The granddaddy of plane crash movies!

This film, which by today's standards may seem a bit whimsical, is nonetheless a beautifully acted, suspenseful disaster drama that was the forerunner of all subsequent airline disaster films. The cast of the ensemble is excellent; Filled with well-known stars of the 1950s, it's led by a sensitive but poised performance by John Wayne, who shows another side of his talent in this film. It's not an action movie or western. It's a character-driven psychological thriller, and Wayne's acting is superb, as is the rest of the cast. This film is a classic and I highly recommend it for Wayne fans, the disaster genre, or high-end ensemble films. If you've never seen this movie before, you'll be hooked. If you've seen it before, it stands up to re-watching very well, as the cast pulls you in and has you tending to these people on a crippled plane over the Pacific, desperately trying to stay aloft , instead of rushing into the storm. sea, which would be almost a certain death sentence. This is a great adventure/psychological thriller to add to your collection!
