Review on Radio Flyer Classic Tricycle Toddler by Andrew Jenkins

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice tricycle but be sure to oil it and watch it tip over

I understand the mixed reviews on this tricycle. Overall a good trike. But assembly was a nightmare because we couldn't attach the handlebars to the main frame tight enough with the tools we had. When we went to the store and bought the right size hex wrench, we were finally able to tighten it properly. Then the beeping started. I'm pretty sure our whole neighborhood could hear us driving by because the tricycle was creaking so loud. I was hesitant to use WD-40 because of all the chemicals, so I just used an olive oil spray to lubricate the steering pivot and all the wheels. After that my 3 year old rode it much better because it was easier to ride faster, quieter and much smoother. There is still the problem of rollover, which despite being described as not going to happen, is very easy for a child to spin too fast. But I think it's a good lesson for my daughter on balance and slowing down turns. It doesn't have brakes though, so I'll have to buy her a better bike with brakes on the handlebars when she starts moving faster.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
