Review on πŸ”’ POWERTEC QLN1102 3/8"-16 Stainless Steel Lock Nut Set with Nylon Insert – 50 Pack by Gene Rosado

Most of them are of excellent quality.

Most of these nuts are of excellent quality. The stainless steel also seems to be of great quality and after a month they are still shiny and not even starting to rust. When I do an outdoor project I always use stainless steel and I always use a nylon push-in nut. The only problem with them is that some of the nylon inserts are a bit too big and it is very difficult to get the bolt all the way through the nylon insert. . This has never happened to me, but this is my first time using this brand. They were intended for use in a composite garden cart which had pre-formed eight-sided holes for the screw head. The first few went well, but the nylon insert on one of these nuts was so large that it actually ripped off the octagonal hole for one of the bolts before it even tightened a little. I had to use a saw to cut through the bolt to remove it which meant it also removed the factory anti-corrosion paint on the metal bracket so I had to sand and paint the area. I placed the rest of the nuts and bolts in a vise and tightened the end of the nut to ensure this manufacturing error no longer destroyed the pre-drilled bolt holes.

Pros
  • HEAVY-DUTY CONSTRUCTION: Commonly used hex locknuts are manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel for durability and are engineered to outperform similar sized zinc plated fasteners while offering superior rust and corrosion resistance.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
