Review on Premium OXO Good Grips Pro Nonstick Dishwasher Safe Frying Pan, 10-inch - Black by Ryan Vaughn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great pan, super smooth and good price.

Incidentally, at the time of writing this review, this pan was voted best non-stick pan (non-ceramic) by American Test Kitchen. We have the 10 inch Pro model. this skillet for $40 and we love it. I think a lot of the bad reviews here from people are largely self-inflicted. I'm sure some people get lemons, but for the most part, if you keep this pan on medium heat or lower and just care and don't be silly, it will last you for years to come. Don't use it to sear steaks, use a stainless steel or cast iron pan instead. Don't use metal utensils and just wash them in hot soapy water with a good soft sponge. The pan is nice and flat and the bottom is noticeably thicker than some of the less expensive pans you'll find in chain stores. The pan has a good overall rating Weight but not so much that it feels heavy when you use it. Mirroring objects is a simple task. I've made tons of eggs in this pan, with and without oil, and they still slide through the pan like new. The brushed stainless steel handle was a nice touch - and - the rivet heads on the inside of the pan have the same non-stick coating as the rest of the pan. One of my biggest annoyances with other nonstick pans I've had has always been the usual metal rivet heads, which always attracted food like a magnet and were difficult to clean without worrying about damaging the surrounding surface. I've added two photos to show what I mean, the first is of this pan and the other is of le crueset which costs three times as much with regular metal connectors. If you think of Le Crueset or Fully Dressed, which is what we initially did when looking for pans, consider this: you are buying a non-stick pan that can be scratched or will likely lose its non-stick properties over time and need to be replaced. They probably won't be heirlooms to pass down to your children. The fact that a Le Crueset Dutch Oven or some solid coated stainless steel pans will last a lifetime or two for the average home cook justifies the price, in my opinion. The fact that in many cases these companies charge the same for one of their non-stick pans as for their stainless steel pans is just plain stupid and a bit offensive to me as a consumer. This is a great frying pan at a very good price. a price that beats more expensive pans from other companies and makes more sense to buy in the long run.
