Review on πŸ”Œ SMALLRIG Sony A6100/A6300/A6400 Cold Shoe Adapter Relocation Plate – BUC2317 by Bradley Wacks

It would be nice if the hot shoe had a front

I don't know what to call it but on the camera hot shoe you push the mic/light/whatever forward man can tilt the camera forward to prevent it from falling out, and tighten it with one hand and hold the camera with the other. On the cold shoe you can mount the mount for travel in the front OR in the back. This makes it a bit difficult to install things when they are big and uncomfortable. If you tilt the camera forward, even the smallest part of what's inside the shoe will fall out (often accidentally). Nothing is impossible to attach to it, but it would be a lot easier if there was a forefoot that would prevent anything inside the shoe from slipping out the front to make actually attaching accessories easier. The build quality and fit of this kit is absolutely amazing, I can see why they are charging this price. Everything about it is perfect, except it's inconvenient to mount bulky pistol mics.

  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best
