Review on EPAuto 1/4-Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench: Precise Torque Control for 20-200 in.-lb. / 2.26 ~ 22.6 Nm by Bill Kodba

Great for the price, handy for under-the-hood auto work

I bought this to do some low-torque automotive work. Just changed my spark plugs and retorqued to spec. The one I got has +/- 4% tolerance as advertised.Form factor is great. Comfortable and sturdy. The click is easy to feel/hear, the mechanism is easy to set, the case it comes in is mostly sturdy (though I'm not sure how long the latches will last), and the extra adapters are a great bonus. I panicked for a moment in the middle of disassembling my car when I realized I forgot to pick up a 1/4"->3/8" driver adapter and was very relieved to realize that the wrench came with one.TIPS FOR NEW TORQUE WRENCHERS:Test it at a few settings and sanity check that you received a good enough wrench for your needs *before* you start using it on critical automotive bolts :)I used a 1/4->1/2" adapter to a 19mm socket to hang it from one of my wheel lugs for testing, and used a kitchen scale to weigh random objects I clove-hitched onto the end, 9.5" from the driver. It might be a better idea to use a jug of water to make it easier to sanity check the exact settings you plan to use for critical bolts, but I didn't have a big enough jug of water handy. For some of the weights, I also needed to use a socket extender to get them clear of the wheel. A few quick sample points:- applied 36.5 in-lb, clicked at 37- applied 73 in-lb, clicked at 70- applied 116.4 in-lb, clicked at 114I set it a couple of in-lb under spec when tightening bolts, to compensate for the calibration being off.Read the instructions before you start fiddling around with it, and it will treat you well! I store mine at the lowest torque setting.

Pros
  • ‎10.6 x 1.1 x 1 inches
Cons
  • May require more effort to use than other torque wrenches
