I have 8 old IP cameras that don't support PoE. I've been connecting 5V DC extension cords to the cameras for a while, but voltage drops across the extension cords were causing the cameras to not work properly. I needed a better solution. I bought a PoE switch and 8 PoE splitters. They are almost PERFECT. My only complaint is that they are one color (black) and the IP cameras are white. They are easy to set up and work exactly as described. Connect an Ethernet cable (suitable for a PoE switch) on one end and connect the power and Ethernet ports to the IP camera on the other end. Works great. I've tried it on multiple devices including Raspberry Pi and my phone (for charging only). No problem.
