Works as described in Network Adapter

I have always wanted the best mechanism to control the many automation devices in my home and wall mounted control panels have always seemed the ideal setup; Unfortunately, most of them are bad or don't integrate as well into my Vera-based setup as the iPad smartphone apps do. So I figured I'd mount an iPad on the wall and use these fixed home automation controllers, but the obvious problem is how do you power these panels? Product description is misleading - it's a splitter, not an adapter

Images and product description refer to an Ethernet to Lightning adapter* that sends Ethernet data to the Lightning port on the iPad. An Ethernet *splitter* came with separate RJ45 and Lightning power connectors. RJ45 is completely useless for an iPad, but the Lightning connector doesn't actually carry Ethernet data, just power. Therefore, there is no way to transfer data to the device, which is the reason for purchasing this product. Splitters are widely available and cheap, and can be…

Ideal solution for IP cameras that don't support PoE

I have 8 old IP cameras that don't support PoE. I've been connecting 5V DC extension cords to the cameras for a while, but voltage drops across the extension cords were causing the cameras to not work properly. I needed a better solution. I bought a PoE switch and 8 PoE splitters. They are almost PERFECT. My only complaint is that they are one color (black) and the IP cameras are white. They are easy to set up and work exactly as described. Connect an Ethernet cable (suitable for a PoE switch)…
