They passed the negative weather test when I took them to Alaska in February and they kept me warm without the need for additional pads. At night, as I stood still and photographed the Northern Lights, I put on a pair of heating pads for reassurance because I had to take my hands off my mittens to take a picture and play with the camera settings. There is a clasp so you can keep them together when not wearing them so you never lose a page. They fit me perfectly. I'm on the short side so if you have JGE hands they might not fit.
