I have a 2 x 6 foot desk at home. In addition to this table I make firearms and other mechanical work using solvents, oils and other liquids. I keep a vinyl workmat on my workbench for the nasty stuff, but they're never big enough to cover the entire surface. This product prevents splashes and run-off water from hitting the wood directly, and its material is perfect for that. Also, the rubber backing keeps the pad in place, ensuring it's quiet and immobile rather than rolling and sliding on a vinyl carpet or countertop. It may not be what it was intended for, but it works great as a protective, absorbent, non-slip work surface.
