I bought these to help with a large wok and found them to open too wide for me on the cord which I fear they may be at a critical juncture might guess. I used an elastic cord to pull the loop through and tie off, enhancing the scalloped effect. Still leaves it flexible enough for pinching and easy on and off, but makes the grip a little more secure. Heat resistance is excellent and they're just the right size and thickness to give the pot handles a really good grip. I like that they are easy to clean from dirt. Happy with this purchase and highly recommend.
