Review on ๐Ÿ”ญ Vortex Optics Razor HD 4000 Laser Rangefinder: Unmatched Precision and Clarity by Fernando Beck

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent range finder. ELR mode where it is

4 month trial: This is my third rangefinder to find one that suits my needs. I buy this for long range precision rifles and steel shooting at about 1000 yards and in, rifle and bow hunting. I've been able to set up street signs up to 1,200 yards away without assistance on several occasions. When people show range finders that measure houses to 2,000 yards that's cool and all, but I don't shoot at houses, barns or towers, so for me it's not an accurate representation of field conditions related to the shooting. If you're camping and need the distance to a waypoint, this thing drives safely up to a mile through large features. At this point I've only had the Razor 4000 HD for about 5 months. I took it to the club several times and tested it on steel targets. The distances were known before the measurement as there are ledges every 100 meters. I set 66% IPSC, 8" circle and 6" diamond respectively. My stick only goes a little over 600 yards. I found that 66% of IPSC players had no problem getting into any mode, even freehand. For smaller targets, switch directly to ELR mode. An 8 inch circle and a 6 inch diamond are almost impossible to calculate in normal or first mode. I put them at 400 and 500 yards. It took 3-4 attempts in ELR mode with the tripod mounted Razor 4000, but I was able to get clear readings on every target. I've also confirmed some ranges in PRS matches on fairly large targets (full size IPSCs, buffalo, deer, 12" squares, etc.) hovering around the 1000 yard mark in ELR mode. great, ranges come back very quickly and first/last/elr modes work as expected. Clarity is excellent, the glass in this LRF is amazing. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and it works very well. At distances up to 1000 yards I am absolutely confident that I can go the distance without any problems. The only reason for the 4 star rating is that I have used some high end rangefinders like Leica Geovid 10x, Terrapins etc. These LRFs get 5 stars. Vortex is probably best in class and I agree. The only downside I can find at the moment is that the grid is bigger than I prefer and a small dot in the middle would be nice. This LRF is also very easy to use. Two-button interface that does not require reading the manual.
