My bike rack, an Allen Sports Deluxe 2 (1-2" receiver) bike rack, is designed to mount a Class II (1 1/4") bike rack that I have in my car, or a Class III (2") hitch receiver that I have in my RV. To fill the extra space in the Class III hitch pocket, the bike rack uses two L-shaped metal plates as spacers. If the fit were tighter , attaching and removing the bike rack would be tricky, but a little extra room for easy installation also makes the rack wobble, especially as our bikes increase in weight.Without interfering with the hitch lock that attaches to my bike rack, this StowAway stops Hitch tensioner stopped swaying and stabilized my heavy bike rack. There were enough threads on the U-shaped bolt e so I could fully tighten them even though the bike rack hitch rod is 3/4 inch smaller than my RV's Class III hitch receptacle. The only downside I see with this solution is that I now need a wrench to remove the bike rack, but that's a minor issue compared to the constant wobbling of my bikes that I've experienced before without this clamp.
