Significantly reduced rack sway

We transported a few suitcases and a few other items across 4 states on a rack. This tensioner did a great job rocking our truck from side to side. In fact, with this stretcher he moved less loaded than with an empty trunk! Installation was very easy following the instructions. I made sure to twist it to the recommended amount and it held up great. I decided to pay a little more for it because it's made in the USA and the difference was minimal, maybe $5. I look forward to using it on our next…

So simple, so powerful.

I'm giving myself one star because I didn't purchase it sooner. The plate is 1/4" thick so you don't have to worry about bending this thing, you don't need to twist it anyway. I had to install it on the right side as my hitch doesn't extend past the back bumper and because of how Andersen MFG. makes my Rapid Hitch (short shank with a half length pin hole so no room for that tensioner) After tightening both nuts (flat and lock washers come with this FYI) my clutch snapped and snapped, and it…

Best smart simple rattle remover for light loads (hanging racks)

Works very well. I have used many types of these anti-rattle devices. I prefer this one the most. Easier to install than other types of spring and push pin locks. Well done, simple smart design that works. Have a 3/4 inch hex wrench ready. Update 6/2018: Worked well when the pen weight was less than 200#. Practically didn't fit when used on a medium sized road trailer. Retractable cargo box and bike rack. It worked fine for me with trailers with a 2000# GVW. Not strong enough at 5400# gross…

Over time, the thread will “weld” to the nut.

This type of product is great for eliminating "backlash" in your clutch system. I pull many things including towing cars behind our RV. If you want to feel if there is a problem, you should not have any slops in the system. This device takes care of that. I've had several of these and they all work equally well. The problem with this is that once you've driven it a few thousand miles, you can't take it off. The thread engages the nut and we end up twisting the thread and nut, destroying the…

Big Boy Spanner: Coupler Clamps and Pins

This spanner deserves more than 5 stars! This is the best bleach I've ever used. I've used lighter and stronger brighteners, but that throws them off track. With proper installation according to the instructions provided, you will have many years of trouble-free use. Check the tightness of the screws before every journey (as with every preliminary check when towing). This stretcher is great. I don't understand the negative reviews for this product. The plate cannot be bent by tightening the…

My bike rack no longer swings

My bike rack, an Allen Sports Deluxe 2 (1-2" receiver) bike rack, is designed to mount a Class II (1 1/4") bike rack that I have in my car, or a Class III (2") hitch receiver that I have in my RV. To fill the extra space in the Class III hitch pocket, the bike rack uses two L-shaped metal plates as spacers. If the fit were tighter , attaching and removing the bike rack would be tricky, but a little extra room for easy installation also makes the rack wobble, especially as our bikes increase in…

Worth the investment

I'm buying a StowAway hitch wrench to work with the CURT load carrier that I ordered at the same time. This was my first time using a cargo/trailer hitch so I was really unfamiliar with many of the terms and potential issues discussed in the reviews and Q&A. In one of the reviews, a person recommended this clutch tensioner. After installing the cargo basket I tried wiggling and bouncing the cargo basket and as stated in the review there was a lot of play. . way more than I want to be driving…

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

This is a VERY strong clutch stabilizer. The black plate is 1/4" steel and the U-bolt is properly formed and sturdy. Apply a drop or two of 3-in-1 oil to each thread before screwing in as instructed (any light oil will do). . I use this with an aluminum hitch and it works great! You must remember to hold the ball hitch at the bottom of the receiver. This is important when towing something with significant weight on the drawbar (e.g. a boat or a heavy trailer). If you mount it opposite, the ball
