Designed for frameless aquariums. Didn't realize it when I bought it but it still works, just floats and can move around in the aquarium. I was having trouble balancing a planted tank and thought about adding CO2. However, since then my tank has been balanced without CO2 and I no longer constantly measure the CO2 in the tank.
