This meter is very, very good but get some fuses first as fuses are very untypical for a meter. . They are rated for 250 volts which I feel is a bit impractical if you plan on running this at higher voltages. Also, the meter pins aren't rated (e.g. he's supposed to be rated for 600V/2000V/etc). There is a MOV on top of the board, but I didn't see any additional transient suppression circuitry. At the same time, I think this is an excellent meter in terms of cost and purpose. I'd pay another $10 for the same meter if the wires had voltage/insulation ratings printed on them and the fuses were the more common HRC fuse size. A UL listing or Intertek listing doesn't hurt either. Overall I think it will be a great gauge and an amazing first gauge. The true functionality of RMS is also pretty poor.
