I've had serious breakout issues using a straight jig, but. A very experienced luthier recommended a twistbit. I heard about it but didn't know what to expect. I chose Whiteside as it was a decent price and a reputable company. I can't tell you how much time, frustration, and garbage this piece saved me. I will never use the direct bit for template routing again. This is amazing stuff!
