Review on πŸ”ͺ Yoshihiro TSOIL Tsubaki Japanese Knife Maintenance Oil + Rust Eraser, 3.4 oz – Premium Quality for Optimal Blade Care by Raymond Simmons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best purchases I've ever made

And that's no exaggeration: it's knife oil - I know it by the name "hinoki"; it has other names - it's just fantastic for knife blades. Living in the high desert, rust isn't a big problem unless you handle knives carelessly, but no matter what, it's always a good idea to protect the blades with the occasional application of oil. This oil is perfect: viscous enough to stay where you put it, yet light enough to glide easily onto the blade; It dries quickly without leaving a sticky residue, but treated blades resist fingerprints and dust for days. sensitive to fingerprints when touched. Leave these marks on a shiny blade long enough and the acidic tallow will stain the steel permanently. However, satin/mirror blades coated with this oil behave like sharpened blades, ie they do not leave fingerprints. It's really wonderful and wonderful. Another positive feature of this oil is that it can be applied to blades with a partial black coating without discoloring the coating. In other words, the plain metal parts of the blade that need oil can get it, and the black-coated parts don't leave a big grease stain. Okay, another great feature: I've been processing +50 knives a week, I'm drinking this oil and the volume in the bottle has decreased by maybe 10%? Maybe less depending on what the fluid level was like when I got it, which I don't remember. Yes, and the eraser works great too. With a little patience he removed some of the patina that had formed on the CPM M4 blade that I have. But the eraser is just normal, a good product. This oil is one of the most phenomenal products I've ever used, period.
