Newbie: Still learning

So I'm new to acrobatics, I just got my first hobby kit for my birthday in June (National Geographic Rock Glass for those interested). I've run out of stones for the past few years. So I went to Polly Plastics to find some inexpensive sand that worked well. Well, it came SUPER fast. When I ordered on Friday I was supposed to receive my item by the following Wednesday but I received it on Sunday. It was expertly packaged, you could tell I made sure I got my exposure. Not only were the two 1 pound sandbags packed in strong ziplock bags, they were in another ziplock bag and then wrapped in plastic. If those packages were leaked at all, they wouldn't have gone anywhere! Luckily they didn't leak and I was able to collect all my sand in the jar I keep it in. I will update in a few days to let you know the quality of the cut as my stones are currently in and out of shape. Update: I got my stones out of the jar today. For anyone wanting to know my glass is a small 3 lb glass. Everything I've read says you need to add two tablespoons of sand. When I got my stones out today, there was SO much extra sand in it that it created an almost cement-like layer at the bottom of my jar that took multiple washes to remove the sand and get all my stones out. Most of them were smooth enough to move on to the next level. The grain is very shiny, almost metallic. I'll check back in a few days, I've only put in a tablespoon for this round. Update: I just pulled out a batch that only contained a tablespoon of sand and it worked great. Seems like a tablespoon of this sand is enough for my 3 lb hobby jar. I have attached a photo of my stones ready to move to step 2.
