Worked well across the country

We bought it for a cross country trip. First let me say it turned out beautifully. Just in case I put everything in plastic bags for the garbage in front of the store. Before use, I sprayed it well with a water-repellent agent. Also, we didn't have roof racks on our car and Honda didn't make them, and I didn't feel it was worth the risk of trying non-real ones. I read a few reviews where people just got zip ties and tied them to the roof and it worked fine for them - here's what I did. It worked really great - no noticeable drag or loss of gas mileage. Was very safe and couldn't worry after a few hundred miles. Unfortunately it started to rain. There would be nothing wrong with that, except that it rained day and night for the last three or four days of the trip. There were no problems with the "protective jacket” itself. The problem finally became the lashing straps. As the rain never stopped (I think a heavy rain day would be fine) - the belts eventually got wet and water from the belts seeped into the car. The cleaning took a long time (and we had wet rear ends for a while) and I figured I needed to have the interior of the car professionally cleaned - it was close! - but we made it and finally warm weather arrived at the destination, so everything is fine now. I would still use it with tie down straps if need be, but I would definitely check the weather beforehand. Update: Did a second cross country trip and worked great again - this time it didn't rain. :-) But the front flap - the part that doesn't have velcro to hold it in place - kept "unfolding" or folding. Every time we stopped, I would check and fold it back, but then I noticed it was completely ripped off - only held on at the corners, with one corner that really pulled out, so I can tell it's on this one site is compromised . and will no longer be waterproof. I took some photos but I'm having trouble uploading them. will keep working on it! :-)
