a buzzing sound coming from a person when speaking through the speakers. Voice capture at close range

Good value for money. You get what you pay for in this case. I tweaked and played with many settings to get the best performance. I only use it for video chatting on Windows. The biggest downside to this mic is that even with 20dB or 30dB mic gain and mic input around 80%, you don't have to be more than a foot away from the mic for it to pick up your voice clearly, or at all. The echo and buzz coming from other people is absolutely awful, though when the mic sensitivity is set above 80 and I'm even speaking a little loud. I've played around with settings like background suppression and acoustics and all sorts of things including removing external speakers from the mic, but it didn't matter. I think it was around $8 but the next one I buy will be in the $20 range and hopefully be a lot better. I wasn't expecting much when I got it for $8, but the hum the other person hears in the speakers is an awful noise, and the only way to get rid of the noise when it happens is to adjust the microphone sensitivity in the levels tab up to 20% but then they can't hear what I'm saying because the mic isn't picking up my voice so it's a vicious circle.

Pros
  • Sensitivity: -38dB +/- 2dB. Signal-to-noise ratio > 60 dB, frequency range: 100 Hz - 16000 Hz. Flat, extended frequency response, ideal for FaceTime, YouTube, MSN, SKYPE, vocals, speech and instruments
Cons
  • Long waiting time
