They are really accurate, I estimate to within 0.2 degrees. I bought two of these thermometers and conducted the little experiment described below. I laid them side by side, less than 1 inch apart. Then I noted the temperature to the nearest tenth and read the display every hour. Every time I took the temperature, I swapped the thermometers. Each time, the readings of the two thermometers differed by about 0.5 degrees. However, read on! Every time I took a reading and changed the position of the thermometers, the temperature changed too! The temperature was determined by the location, not the thermometer used. Temperature readings were accurately recorded hour after hour at two points just inches apart, and each time I switched places, one thermometer rose about 0.5 degrees and the other dropped 0.5 degrees. Think about it for a minute.
