I have a Verizon Actiontec m1424wr router. I only had 1 out of 5 bars from my living room to my bedroom and sometimes there was no reception. It's about 50 feet from the same wall as my stove and refrigerator, linen closet, closet, two bathrooms, and bedroom. I read reviews and forums about the effectiveness of the antenna. Reviews/forums were mixed. I decided to shoot. And I'm glad I did. Now I get 2, 3 and sometimes 4 bars and no missing signals. I wanted to try a powerline adapter but that's not necessary now and it's a lot cheaper with an antenna. Not sure why some reviews say there is no difference. I simply removed the original short antenna and screwed on the Alfa 9dBiWifi Booster antenna (14 1/2 inches upright). Just like that, and now I'm given a warm welcome in my bedroom and throughout the house. I love it. I rate this 5 stars.
