Not everyone knows that a mug is not always a mug in other countries. I bought this mug to use for recipes that measure liquids in milliliters, but my husband and son-in-law used this mug over the holidays to cook and bake bread (American recipes) and the "mug" label used. After use they found that the markings on the 2 cups matched the markings on the 18 oz and this began a round of testing with the initial finding that the markings on the cup were "all wrong!" upon further research and the realization that this cup is of no use for our domestic culinary needs, calmer heads prevailed. That being said, our testing showed that the labels on the mugs themselves vary a bit - not significantly as it won't mess up your recipe, but I wouldn't use this mug for precise measurements. Works great for my baking needs.
