Does not fit as expected

I ordered this lens protection product for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I was excited as I watched the video and followed it step by step, only to realize the guard was too small to even fit the lens. They tell you to line up the holes correctly but there is no way to do this for my phone model even though the description says so.
