Review on Earpiece Receiver Enforcement Accessories Surveillance by Stephanie Adams

Do not buy, short-lived

I work in law enforcement and would like an extra pair of headphones for my portable radio. I've been using tips for a number of years and have noticed that they wear out. On average, it usually lasts 6-8 months. Sometimes they need maintenance and cleaning, but nothing major. I bought this brand in April because it had everything I was looking for and I wanted to try it. I've been using it for less than two weeks and the sound is starting to muffle. I'm pretty good at troubleshooting, maintaining my gear and swapping it out when needed. Experience has shown that this noise reduction is usually due to a build-up of moisture in the air hose. (But I've never had moisture build up that quickly). I checked the air hose, it was dry and clean. I replaced it and used it again and it lasted the rest of the shift. It started up again halfway through my next shift, so I did some pretty thorough troubleshooting. I have not found anything broken, damaged, raw or out of place. Luckily I had an extra pair of earbuds (of the same brand) that I bought earlier and started switching them. What I found was; When I replaced the cable it worked again but only for about a week. I have inspected the cable connectors and the sleeve they plug into and found no damage, moisture or corrosion. I wear a vest carrying system and the connector is positioned to keep out rain and dissipate any body heat. I take off the earpiece and hang it up separately after the change. I had connected other brands in the same way and don't know why two products failed in such a short time. I bought this item on April 13th, it arrived on April 17th and on April 26th I bought another brand. I believe the problem is either in the part where the cable connects, or in the cable itself, or in the sleeve, or in the whole part.
