Safe Siphon - The Real Deal

This review is for those pumping petrol from CARB compatible LPG tanks. They're a frustrated bunch forced to manipulate 40-pound, 5-gallon gas canisters to try and get the CARB nozzles to open and allow refueling. These new nozzles were designed to reduce hydrocarbon emissions, but they do exactly the opposite. CARB injectors are very difficult to use and actually result in more gas leaks than the old system. These cheap plastic nozzles are not designed to withstand a 40 pound side load, causing them to warp and leak. The flow rate is painfully slow, which adds to the frustration. I've often wondered why something so stupid stays on the market. The tree lovers who thought they'd won are screwed because CARB-compatible nozzles are more polluting. Aha, enter the safety siphon to save the day! To dump a 5 gallon can of gasoline into a vehicle, simply place the can on a small ladder (3 feet high). Insert the PVC hose into the gas filling tube until its outlet is below the liquid level in the gas cylinder. Open the gas bottle, insert the working end of the safety siphon and off you go! Once the flow is set up, just watch it go. At some point in the broadcast, the stream slows down. Just pick up the can, which makes the transfer much easier by increasing the elevation gain. In the end, the inclination of the tank allows you to empty it almost completely. When the flow stops, raise the working end of the safety siphon and drain the gasoline left in the PVC pipe into the vehicle. Such a simple device saves a lot of work and frustration.

Pros
  • Best way to drain flooded basement without pumps and electricity
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model
