I will not comment on the durability of this product as I have only had it a few days. I bought it to detect ringworm in some adopted kittens. During her "free" visit to the vet, she pointed out that the hairless patches were ringworm. She gave me medicated shampoo and treatment lotion. All is well. The vet insisted that I check him regularly and I won't mention that it would be very expensive. So I did a little research and came across the "Woods lamp" which is really just a 365nm UV lamp. I bought this and then waited to check on the kittens. I have treated them but have been told they must remain in quarantine until the next visit. Obviously this is tough on the kittens so I want to take them out once the infection is gone. With this little flashlight I can tell you that the infection is glowing bright green. This is very easy to spot. Nothing else on the cat will fluoresce green. The bad news is that after a week there is still a place available. Things seem to be getting better but with daily checks with this little flashlight I'll be able to get her out of quarantine as soon as possible. The build quality is excellent. It requires one AA battery, which I'm fine with as I don't plan on using it too often. I think they're rechargeable too, but I'd rather just have one battery to use when I need light. The spotlight function works very well. The flashlight also seems to be of good quality. Overall a great purchase.
