Review on πŸ”Œ Enhance X10 Home Automation Efficiency with XPPF Plug-In Noise Filter - Effectively Suppress Line Noise by Joseph Mannasseh

System is better without it

I was shocked to see that this device actually made things worse. As many know, the X=10 press and prayer log leaves a lot to be desired, but for the price, I think it's worth the effort. As well as controlling the regular lights around the house, I also use it to control holiday displays (electricity for them, at least). I know that the X10 signal can be affected by items such as PC UPSs and refrigerators. So when we bought a smaller wine cooler, I bought one of these to plug into. Everything was fine until Christmas came. I put some candles in the wine cabinet windows and hooked them up to an X-10 controller which ran them for years and when I sent a command to test them they wouldn't come on. I thought the radiator was the problem so I unplugged it and tried the filter again and the spark plugs lit up. Fuck, I put the cooler back into the wall with no filter and the X-10 controller still worked fine. Everything worked without a filter, but not with it. It looks like this should be called a noise booster rather than a filter.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
