I bought a 5 watt Aqueon heater for my rooster but since the bowl capacity is 1 gallon (only until she grows up she will move to a larger tank) the temp continued to rise and I had to turn it off as i was worried about cooking it. This temperature controller has been great so far. I set the difference to one degree so it doesn't fluctuate too much and so far it has maintained a stable and reliable temperature. I kept my other digital thermometer in a bowl for comparison and so far the Nicrew gauge has been accurate. They agree to within a few decimal places. It is very reliable and gives me peace of mind that my fish are doing well. It's completely silent except for a tiny click when you turn it on or off that you barely notice. I have compared many thermostats and this one had the best performance and quality for the price. I encourage you to try!
