First conclusions With SPD cases

I was a little afraid to try these cases but bought 2 pairs; one for me and one for my wife. I was pleased to feel that the material seemed strong enough; It was a good start. They snapped easily into my wife's boots, but didn't fit all of my SPD boots right away. This is due to the small distance between my spike and the rubber of the boot. It bothered me from the start, but I didn't give up. With a utility knife I made a small cut in the rubber of the boot. You can see it on the right side of my photo. After about 10 minutes of careful cutting, I was able to put the spike cap on. Boot covers slightly lift the balls of your feet. On concrete, you'll feel the extra height and your shoes will even sway a little from side to side. Although it was ok to walk around the yard. I imagine it might get uncomfortable on a long hike. They felt good on uneven surfaces - in fact, I didn't notice them at all. One thing I really like is that I no longer have the raspy concrete sound that comes with my bare SPD spikes. Overall I'm very happy with them so far. I bought it to go on a long bike ride with my wife. Because their shoes are so small, they flex at the front "quickly," meaning the front end of their boot remains open to the ground. Because of the shape of her shoes, she put on her boots MUCH faster than me, even though I weigh 40 pounds more than her. I assume these covers will have a lot of pressure in the same place. I plan to come back here and update the review so you guys know how well they are handling their situation and mine over the 4 month tour. To be honest I don't expect them to last the whole tour but if they do they get 5 stars plus from me!
