Review on AMD AM4 MSI X570-A PRO Motherboard with DDR4, PCIe 4.0, SATA 6Gb/s, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI, ATX by Ryan Limkk ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn³'t expect the quality to be this good.

Now let's move on to the most interesting, to compare with past chipsets. AMD has announced support for x470 and b450 chipsets for ryzens. In general, if you dance a little with the bios, you can get a 3000 series ryzen, and 5000 series too. But there may be problems with overclocking the RAM, and for Ryzens, overclocking the RAM is a must-have. Well, the lack of pcle 4.0. It's not critical for a video card, but it's unpleasant for an ssd. I bought myself an m.2 ssd on pcle 4.0 and in general, it is 40 percent faster than on pcle 3.0. And I bought it about a year ago. Now there are even faster solutions on pcle 4.0, which outperform ssd on pcle 3.0 almost twice. Well, now I looked at the price of the b450 tomahawk. Worth 9k. This x570 board costs 13k. I think the overpayment is not so critical, but it's worth it, especially if your build is not on the ryzen 3600, but, say, on the 3800x or 3700x Summing up, we can conclude: If you are planning to make a budget build on a folk top ryzen 5 3600 or something like that, you are generally not afraid of dancing with flashing the BIOS, you do not need pcle 4.0 chips and you know for sure that on an old chipset you can overclock the RAM normally, then take x470, b450 or even x370, since there are guides and reviews on the Internet. If you are ready to overpay a little for a newer motherboard with a couple of new chips, which you just put in and forget, but you will always know that it is not 5-6 years old, but a new mat. board, then buy x570. The B550 doesn't make any sense as it's worse and more expensive. Well, among the x570 in the budget segment, there are two leaders, but since this board from msi is on average 2022-2500 cheaper than the aorus elite, it's better to take it

Pros
  • - The quality of the cooling system. This is the first thing you should pay attention to when choosing a mat. fees. In this price category (180-200 USD) there are only two worthy representatives based on the x570 chipset with good vrm. This is this motherboard and aorus elite. The most interesting thing is that the reviews give a strange description of the mat. boards. Let's say, in 2022, when I bought the board (end of summer 2022), most of the reviews praised the gigabyte for their vrm, but now I went to the American site (tom's hardware), and he thinks msi is the best budget board. So we will assume that according to the reviews they are approximately the same, but it should be borne in mind that msi is cheaper by a couple of thousand. - Mystical cheapness in relation to chipsets on b550. A rather strange remark, given that AMD itself positions and has always positioned B chipsets as mid-range, and X as high-end, it's rather strange that the b550 is more expensive, because they have fewer features. I thought maybe there was an incredible leap in vrm quality between the two chipsets and that's why the B550 is more expensive, but that turned out not to be true. Therefore, there is no sense in the B550, because you can take the x570. - it's too early to talk about reliability, but a year and a half without any complaints we'll take it as a plus. - excellent overclocking of the RAM. Maybe I got good b-die dice, but as a fact: I downloaded the ryzen dram calculator and was able to run the RAM at frequencies, even a little better than the program recommended, so the main thing here is hands. - The temperatures in Hades are good. at idle 40 degrees. Under load, maybe 55-60. Good vrm - low temperatures. In general, it is logical. - lack of lgbt light music
Cons
  • - fan. I describe in minuses, because for many it is a minus. Right at the time of writing, I looked into the system unit: the fan is not spinning. And in general I do not remember that he was spinning. It may be spinning under loads, but it’s stupid to talk about noise, since with a 99% probability under loads you will have much louder noise from cheap coolers on the system unit, or video card coolers, or power supply coolers. It doesn’t look very aesthetically pleasing, but if you don’t have an exhibition PC, then it doesn’t matter. - Bios. As soon as the board came out, many complained that there were problems with overclocking the RAM, or some other software problems. I didn't have anything like that. I installed a couple of ates, I did not experience problems with overclocking the operative. Now, for sure, everything that could be fixed has already been fixed, but ates continue to be released regularly. I have not ated for about a year and I'm fine. (by the way, according to rumors, it was even worse for gigabits with bios at the start) The bios interface itself is normal and understandable. There is nothing more to say.
