Review on ❄️ IceProbe Thermoelectric Aquarium Chiller - Compact Cooling Solution - 4" x 4.75" x 7.5 by Debbie Thomas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works and fits in a JBJ Nanocube 28 Wifi LED Tank

Advantages: Very quiet. Only the 3.5 inch computer fan spins during operation. Works with a 28 gallon aquarium to cool down to 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Fits on the back pan of my nano tank with a little adjustment. The bad (nothing special): If you live in a very warm place with no internal air conditioning in your house. - It's pretty bulky. It worked in my aquarium but with some tweaks. My probe isn't fully submerged, but I'm not using it as instructed. Overall I'm still satisfied. There is no temperature controller included. You have to buy one if you don't want the heater and cooler to work and fight each other. The light has added warmth to our aquarium It's only June and we've hit 81 degrees F. Our target temperature is 79 degrees F, so we need a solution. Foam insulation from the top of the probe In my JBJ tank I just place it as low as possible with the bottom of the main plastic base sitting on the back of the tank. In this configuration, the probe is 1-1 1/2 inches deep in the water, which is enough to cool the tank. This device does not have its own temperature controller. For this I used an InkBird ITC-308 purchased from Revain. This device can work with both cooler and heater. I connected both to InkBird and set the desired temperature to 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Then I set the heating offset to 1 degree Fahrenheit and the cooling offset to 1 degree Fahrenheit (which is the minimum for Inkbird). When I installed this on my tank, the temperature inside the tank was 80.8 degrees Fahrenheit. This device took about 2 hours to cool the tank down to 79 degrees Fahrenheit. As I run, I see the temperature on the Inkbird soar to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. , the cooler turns on and drops to 79 in about 30 minutes. I have no problem keeping my tank at 79. If you live in a very warm climate and don't have air conditioning, a unit this size probably won't be enough to cool your tank. The company recommends using more than 1 device to achieve a higher temperature drop. I would think that after needing 2 of these I would just go the chiller route.
