Well first of all it's not a full review as the first one I got practically died on arrival . The software loads fine, but when it comes time to plug in the A6200, the Windows drivers load. flashes 3 times. but then "adapter not found" always pops up. I see it in my network adapters as A6200 but I was never able to enable it. Exodus. I also tried using the offline driver without Netgear Genie. Nothing has worked here either. I have a Netgear support ticket and I have to admit that they are always available to speak to you or email you. but the best answer was to install it on another computer to decide if it works or not. Although I did this and got exactly the same problem. This is a poor form of support from Netgear's technical department. Another problem is that you can never call the same phone specialist twice. I'm pretty sure Netgear support is based in another country and is going through the script right now. In fact, they are not technical specialists (I may be wrong, but it seems to me). Because I believe in Netgear products. and i really like my r6300 router i asked revain to replace it and see if its really broken. I will update this review after receiving the next one. After I said all that. From an IT point of view. Don't believe Netgear's claims about the speed of this adapter. The best part is that it operates at 5GHz. The next best thing is that if you're using a Netgear router, operations should sync for no apparent reason. If you need a massive 900MB of bandwidth, forget it. It's absolutely impossible. Why? Because USB2.0, which this adapter is designed for, cannot provide more than 480MB of bandwidth. However, it's still a lot faster than anything else that's wireless. While I'm very disappointed, I think Netgear released this product too quickly without fully and thoroughly testing the software and drivers. If you look online, there are far more negative reviews than positive ones, and that's not common with Netgear and its products. I'm pretty sure Netgear will phase out the A6200 fairly quickly and move to the A6200 v.1 which will be USB 3.0 enabled and backwards compatible at slower speeds. I've been a big supporter for a long time and will try again. I'll let you know. ****UPDATE***** 4/9/2013 Received a replacement A6200 yesterday (Revain is the best when it comes to this). But alas, the A6200 once again failed. This time I was able to turn it on and keep it running (there's a trick for those of you talking about lost signals or dropouts) but in my case the adapter was never found and recognized. So this time I am finally sending it back and will use another product for the speed and capacity of the air conditioner. Netgear support was very nice. I knew more about Wi-Fi in general, computers, etc. than she knew remotely. As for the outsourcing, it still created very, very difficult times for communication and that may have hampered our efforts as well. For those of you who are having trouble with an adapter that needs to restart because it loses connection. Many people advise you to go into Device Manager and make sure you disable the USB ports, which will allow you to disable them. It's true and you have to do it. BUT . There is one more thing you need to do that I discovered by accident. Proceed as follows: 1. Windows Start button2. Right-click on the word Computer3. Click on the word Manage4. When the Computer Management screen appears, click Device Manager in the left column. 5. Click the Network Adapters triangle to expand the options on the main screen. 6. Right-click the A62007 adapter. Click Properties8. when the box appears. Click the Advanced tab9. Now you'll see a big list of confusing adapter options, especially on the left and right there's a box with words like "auto" or "enabled/disabled" etc. 10. Scroll down the options until you see the Turn off option to save power . In the right panel you will see that it is "enabled". 11. Disable this power option and your A6200 adapter will now stay 100% powered on and will not lose connection due to inactivity. Much luck. Unfortunately I have to report that I am about to try a different brand of high speed/high performance adapter.
