Crazy faulty network adapters

Seems to work very well, then the connection drops, computer freezes. Every time I restart I have to disconnect and reconnect. I have disabled USB selective standby and disabled the wireless PCI card that came with the computer, but it still disconnects. I use it with NightHawk and Win 7 64 bit. I've been using it on another Win 7 for a year and it works fine - I can't figure out why my last purchase is doing so poorly. Updated December 2, 2014. This product broke my computer. I stopped usingโ€ฆ

Great but needs to reboot daily to get faster [FIXED]

I have a Netgear R6250 router. Had to deduct a star today. It seems I have to reboot the R6250 router every morning to get the AC speed up to 866Mbps. What happens if I don't reboot is that when I turn on my Dell laptop I only get 175MB. I will update this when Netgear fixes this issue. Sometimes I can get max AC speed when reconnecting to my A6200. Something doesn't add up on both sides. UPDATE 9/8/2013: Ok, I was able to get a consistent 866Mbps by switching the wireless AC "channel" on myโ€ฆ

Second review better than first

This is my second review for this product. My first got three stars because I had big problems with it on Windows 8. It crashed my computer and I had to use a restore point to get it working again. It wasn't difficult, but it took a little while and was frustrating because it shouldn't have been necessary. I have now updated my drivers to the latest drivers for Windows 8. There are no drivers for Windows 8 on the CD that came with the adapter. You will need to go to the Netgear website andโ€ฆ

  • Not as thick as other options

Keep searching if it's for Windows 8.1 PC

Don't worry. Look further if you are installing on a Windows 8.1 PC. Works great when it works. Tried the latest Windows 8.1 drivers as well as newer beta drivers. With either driver, the A6200 would suddenly lose its WiFi connection. May return on reboot or adapter disconnect/connect. Since this is the PC my non-tech savvy wife uses, problems with it are a big problem. Since I have a Netgear R7000 router, I figured I'd need a wireless adapter that matched the router's AC speed. Note that thisโ€ฆ

Excellent networking products

I have the A6200 for use with my netbook and with a Netgear R6300 router. I had a steady and flat download speed of about 30Mbps from my netbook with the A6200, but my built-in adapter downloaded at about 45Mbps. Also, the R6300's 45Mbps download speed is faster than my old router. I wrote a review of the R6300 router here and Netgear engineers contacted us to work on this issue and I think they are still working on it. After doing test after test, I came to the conclusion that there is noโ€ฆ

Normal goods, at least the first few months

I bought this item for my desktop computer to work with my R7000 router. Even if it's only USB 2.0 (important for the transmission speed from my desktop to my file server connected directly to the router). When connected to the n-area, they worked fine together for a while, and performed better than my desktop's internal card. AC performance was erratic and sometimes I had to restart the computer to get it working again (Windows 7, all device drivers up to date, etc.). My router has a line ofโ€ฆ

Dual-band power adapter

If you own one of the new AC routers, you'll also need to purchase a WiFi power adapter to take advantage of the additional 5GHz band speed that the new standard offers. . Since I was upgrading my router I wanted to get some extra speed and decided to buy this adapter. My requirement for this adapter was that it should support both Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers. Let me give you my results for each: For Windows 7, follow the instructions on the box. Make sure you download the software FIRSTโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • There are downsides

Well first of all it's not a full review as the first one I got practically died on arrival . The software loads fine, but when it comes time to plug in the A6200, the Windows drivers load. flashes 3 times. but then "adapter not found" always pops up. I see it in my network adapters as A6200 but I was never able to enable it. Exodus. I also tried using the offline driver without Netgear Genie. Nothing has worked here either. I have a Netgear support ticket and I have to admit that they areโ€ฆ
