Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficient Electronic Brake Control: Tekonsha 9030 Voyager in Sleek Black by Joshua Castillo

Excellent inexpensive but adequate brake control

After reading many reviews here, I feel more confident to buy and install it myself. Some reviews say it takes 10 minutes to install, others longer. Well, I'm embarrassed to say how long it took, but I'm still glad I did it. I'm not a short guy - 6ft 0250lbs so bending and squirming to access the under dash area was a challenge in itself. As soon as I had selected a suitable place - to the right of the center column - I began with the necessary work. I drive a 2004 Chevy Silverado that has an auxiliary plug and play fuse box so I had to purchase the appropriate wiring harness separately. I had a hell of a time drilling holes in the steel frame under the dash because I didn't have the space or pressure to apply. Once I did that, the caliper clicked into the caliper fairly easily, as did the brake controller. BUT I left VERY little space on the right side of the mount - great as it's far enough to ride but not far enough to attach the mount to the controller. I don't have an angle head, although I will get one, and OF COURSE I couldn't find my 1/4" wrench (it seems) with an open end. So I used a head and crescent to tighten the screws in the board - screw the screws in (and out) of the controller before mounting it to the bracket - this will fill in the plastic holes and make installation easier once they're in the bracket is . I was concerned about setting the controller at the wrong angle, but there's a wide range of acceptance (20-70 degrees maybe?). So the setup was conceptually simple, just a physical issue. I would do it again because the savings are worth it. So far I've only towed one trailer (22ft tandem axle, 3500lbs) home about 10 miles from storage, but the brake worked fine after following the adjustment instructions. use effectively.
