I have cats between the ages of 2 and 10 who have never worn a collar. The female hates everything new, the male just tinkers around and doesn't care about anything. The male also weighs 16 pounds so he is a stocky boy while the female is medium sized. The male let me put the collar on and off several times while adjusting the size. Despite the size, the collar fits perfectly. The female was a bit tougher, had to sneak up on them but managed without hurting herself or anyone else. Easy to put on and take off. Adjusting the size was a bit more difficult. Surprisingly, both wear collars with no problem or objection, despite wearing them for the first time in their 10 years. Besides, they're just cute. I put a blue collar with pizza on the male and a pink one with donuts on the female. Also removed the bells. They are easy to cut. They only live indoors so the bell wasn't really necessary, it annoyed me and the cat shook its head every time it heard it ring.
