Review on MeeFar Car Roof Bag XBEEK: 20 Cubic Feet Waterproof Cargo Carrier for All Cars with/Without Rack - Includes Anti-Slip Mat, 10 Straps, 6 Door Hooks, Luggage Lock. by Victor Ceja

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked great for a 2500 mile cross country ride.

I needed extra cargo space last month for a planned cross-country move. The journey was to be approximately 2,500 miles and take almost two weeks. Two weeks was within 4-5 days of actual travel time to destination and the rest was due to waiting for our trustee to close. So the roof rack I was going to buy had to be strong and last as long as it was strapped to the roof of my SUV. Oh, and it had to be under $150. I started researching soft cargo bags and found a mixed batch of reviews. Most of them, at least in this price range, had questionable durability for trips of this length. Many people have complained of rips or tears in the fabric, snapping or non-working straps, or pockets that aren't weatherproof. Many also have questionable guarantees (I contacted a seller and got a vague answer to my question if they even offered a guarantee - they lost my business). And then I came across this carrier from Xbeek - Meefar. Cargo Bag has been added to the list of required notes. It also had a decent warranty and return policy, which I was happy with. The only thing that bothered me about the purchase was the number of reviews and ratings (small and mediocre respectively). But we were running out of time, our move was approaching and I needed the bag now so I placed my order and hoped for the best. The bag was delivered quickly and arrived as shown in the first photo. The second photo shows what you get when you open the bag (inside you will find a luggage bag, luggage mat, luggage lock, straps to use if you don't have a roof rack, storage bag and instructions). I inspected the bag and found it to be very well made of thick rubber/tarpaulin. The zippers look solid and are protected by the material (orange stripe on the bag) to keep out water/rain. The straps look nice and have plastic clips. They are attached to the cargo pocket at reinforced points. Everything looked like the creation of a quality product. Moving day came and it was hectic (to say the least). Sorry I didn't take photos of the initial setup and loading of the bag. For the most part it was easy to install. My SUV has a cargo bed so attaching the bag was a breeze (the instructions are just sufficient). I put a charging mat on the roof to protect it from the bag and then put the bag on top. The bag was then filled with things that we could not load into a moving truck. I bought some plastic storage containers to pack my stuff and protect it from water in case of a spill. I then attempted to attach and adjust the pannier straps to the roof rack. I found this to be an issue as the straps were very difficult to adjust (at least for me). I'm used to using such straps for fastening things like camping gear. But in the case of this bag, I found it very difficult to use and set up properly. I don't know if it's the material of the strap, the design of the plastic parts, or even me, but for whatever reason, I found them difficult to use. Finally everything was ready to go. The last three photos show the condition of the bag after 2500 miles and almost two weeks of mounting on the roof of my car. During our trip I routinely drove 65-70 mph (listed speed was 80) in areas of strong wind (Wyoming and Nebraska) and scattered rain. I found the bag super durable. Aside from the bugs and road grime, the bag was perfect and showed little to no signs of wear. Plus, the inside was as clean as when it was first packed. Brilliant! Pros/Cons: Pros: 1. Well made with excellent waterproof materials.2. Large capacity.3.Durability.Cons:1. The straps are difficult to adjust.2. The luggage lock was never used as there was no combination to unlock it. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone undertaking a trip of this length/duration.
