Review on πŸ’ͺ Highland SS Tank Bands (pair): Secure and Reliable Support for Your Scuba Tanks by Jeff Billingsley

Just buy regular cam straps without the quick release

These straps are definitely well built and will hold your tank securely in place, but that's about all they have. They're also very bulky, they're heavy, and they combine the worst properties of clamp straps and quick-release buckles into one system. It actually takes longer to install/remove the tank than regular cam straps and much longer than quick release buckles. They are also more difficult to set up than any other type. When the cam is open there isn't enough slack to loosen the quick release, so you'll either have to slide the straps up over the tank like a regular cam strap, or partially loosen the buckle to loosen it enough to snap off the QR , which defeats the whole purpose of a QR. The QR also adds an extra step when attaching them to the tank compared to a simple cam strap as you now need to hold the QR together while attaching the straps to the tank and/or adjusting the strap.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
