I first got these in the 6-7” size when my cats were kittens and only 3-4 lbs, and they worked well for most of the first year. One is now over 15 lbs, so he needs the 9-11” size. The smaller cat is only 8 lbs, but I wanted a new color, and when I measured her neck (probably incorrectly), it seemed about the same as his, so I ordered a 9-11” for her too. But it was clearly too large, so I ordered yet another in the 6-7” size. I was initially confused that there is no size between 7” and 9”. There’s quite a bit of difference, as you can see in the side-by-side photo. (The elastic on these was not stretched out at all - the smaller one was right out of the package, and the larger one had been hanging very loosely around my little cat’s neck for a few days.) She’s now wearing the small collar on the very last notch, but so far the elastic provides enough give so that it isn’t too tight. I assume it will continue to stretch out as needed until she requires the larger size, if ever.Other than the bit of confusion about the size, I really like these collars. The leather is soft and flexible, and the cats don’t seem to mind them at all. The male only managed to lose his color once, which isn’t bad considering he often runs around the house like a lunatic. We later found it behind some furniture. The collars they wore as kittens kept their color for the entire year they wore them, although the color rubbed off the bell that was painted blue. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase.
