This thing saves lives. Our 8 month old Labrador was ebullient, bordering on psycho. We started with potty training him and he quickly learned not to run away even if someone passed our house. It's not harmful, it just draws their attention. Ask has a setting to beep only or vibrate only. We only use the Shock setting when there are a lot of people outside, just to make sure he doesn't run away. We bought another collar for our 4 year old labrador to use with the same remote because she is STRONG and literally drags me around the garden. She never needs anything other than vibrate mode and both are responsive well now that we've been using them for a while. Highly recommended.
