As mentioned in a number of other reviews I was able to get this to work on a 2007 Mazda RX-8. Tighten the tool slightly shorter than the width of the pump. The tool should have flexed a bit when I squeezed it. Make sure the locking tabs on both sides of the ring are removed. I had to put a lot of pressure on the top of the tool to keep it from just slipping off the ribs. I managed to break one. It is difficult to re-tighten the pump with this as the pump itself will want to rotate under the ring. I put a socket and an old piece of rubber under the center of the tool to keep the pump fully depressed, which worked really well. It's not a very simple tool that anyone can use. But it doesn't require too much additional skill or experience to make it work. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are totally creative.
