I already had one of these that seems to work but it's adjustable and I don't always feel I can 100% rely on it. So I thought I'd try two more and this one I liked because of the digital readout, which seemed an extra bonus.I may be missing something but this seems to have low sensitivity when trying to detect voltage. When holding it near an outlet, for instance, this thing is silent until you place the probe right on the slot for for "hot" -- the narrower slot. Otherwise, nothing. If I understand the instructions, this is supposed to show you the voltage. Nope. It does beep and show V (or is that a U) for voltage detected.If you remove the the short plastic protective sleeve from the probe (also serves as a slotted screwdriver), and stick the metal in the slot, the display turns orange (for high voltage) and then if you press the voltage button, it shows you the readout (ie 110 v).Weirdly, when I used this same method in USB ports in an outlet, it reads from 47 to 50 volts, when USB ports are almost always 5 volts. My best guess is the decimal is not functioning correctly or they included a display without decimals. Either way, not great.The continuity worked every time, showing a C and flashing the display.I guess if you need a probe that measures actual contact voltage or a continuity tester, you might like this. If you want a reliable non-contact tester, probably better to look elsewhere. Three Stars.
