Poor quality pads - buffing and polishing accessories
Better spend $5 on a big brand like 3M. The base surface loses about 50% grit/efficiency after 6-8 rounds on a normal aluminum plate. It seems that only both sides of the pad have a "working skin" up to about 10% of its thickness, once that 10% layer is gone after a few light uses the rest is just useless and junk.
