Seal the antenna and install the base plate for the magnetic base.

Installing metering systems on pumping stations, underground pipes (both storm sewers and sewers), rivers/streams/culverts where there is a liquid flow involved. I have tracked/determined it. I've learned to have an arsenal of GSM antennas on my work truck, usually up to eight different types and sometimes as many as ten or twelve. In my business I not only have to deal with getting the best signal strength, but also with vandalism, high traffic areas and sealing antennas in asphalt/concrete outside of a manhole on lane one/two/three. or something else, so I have a lot of experience installing and maintaining antennas every working day in traffic/servitudes/river bottom, that's been my life for 33 years now, and I know about antennas. This is a good option, today it had a vertical magnetic base antenna with 12dB gain on the rain sensor (GSM) which had a -124dB signal and couldn't communicate with the notorious pumping station at the bottom of the river for no signal. I installed this antenna with a gain of 18dB and the cellular device immediately picked up a signal with a strength of -98dB. I caulked these antennas prior to installation using 3M ScotchKote and pre-installation tape to make them waterproof and I also placed the antenna on a 3" diameter magnetic base instead of the included 2.5" base because I knew I was dealing with an area of virtually no signal at a pumping station with a bunch of EMF interference. A key point when working with these magnetically mounted vertical antennas is providing a good ferrous metal ground plane (iron is best). A minimum diameter of 15 inches should be provided for optimal performance. Manhole cover is perfect. The ground plane does not need to be physically grounded, a large piece of iron will do. when it rusts. it's black metal.

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Long wait
