I bought these for the sole (yeah.) purpose of playing beach volleyball. I hate sand; I hate cold sand even more. I play indoor volleyball, and a friend needed someone for a beach volleyball team, so.I wear size 10.5 running shoes, using the product fit guide my sand socks fit just fine. I've used them twice now. They have neoprene bottoms/heels/toes that has a rubberized texture on the outside, and lycra-type material elsewhere. They stay up fine with the velcro (I have skinny legs), and don't slip on my feet while playing. I do get a small amount of sand sneaking in, but it is not noticeable while playing, does not affect performance. If I wear tights over the top of the socks, I only get sand dust inside (presumably particles small enough to go through the lycra-type part or seams). I really have no complaints at all. Everyone else playing with cold feet on a night when it was about 53 F was super jealous. I am being very careful only to use them on the sand so they last as long as possible. I am machine washing (front loader, which is very gentle) and air drying.Only reason I am giving 4/5 stars is 1) I have not tried other brands to compare, and 2) I cannot comment on durability. Will post back at the end of the season if I remember (if they get a hole, I will definitely post; I might forget if they work out fine).
