After another heater decided to leave the heat on rather than turn it off while it was almost cooking the fish I decided to try this as a replacement. I wasn't sure if I would return this one because when I put it in the tank and let it acclimate for over 20 minutes and then plugged it in it showed 72.5 flashing blue. He did this for several hours without changing the temperature on the display, although other thermometers indicated he was warmer. I disabled it and restarted, it showed 76 again. Strange. The bubble strip bubbles up (was near the filter head) and gives it an angle (thanks to the other feedback). After a few hours it still shows the same temperature (76) but the tank thermometers showed a deviation again. Disabled, dormant, reset. The temperature was 78 at the time and hasn't changed much since then. But that's what other thermometers show, so eventually there's a match between devices, and it stays that way. I will continue to check the temperature shown on the heater in relation to some other thermometers in/on the tank. What I like about it is the easy to read digital display and the ease of setting the temperature. Reset it to change what it was reading, so I'll keep an eye on that.
