By softer pliers I mean I wish they were regular serrated pliers. Depending on what you're cooking, the edges of the tongs could potentially dig into the meat (which should be avoided). This is a great idea as I got caught outside trying to prepare food for dinner only to find out the chef was working longer than expected and I can't see anything now and my little porch light isn't worth the hell. ! Pointing the flashlight directly at the food is awesome. The product appears to be fairly durable for what it is, and despite claiming that it can be washed in the dishwasher (after removing the flashlight, of course!), I think I'll still hand wash it. If the manufacturer is listening, I'd also like to see a longer version with a larger diameter flashlight to illuminate more of the cooktop.
